Adam Schwerdt

Doctor of Physical Therapy and USATF Lv1 Coach, Owner of Run Mental

I have spent the last 7 years of my life helping individuals through injury/pain as a licensed physical therapist. 6 years of that has consisted of me coaching runners and helping individuals get strong through personal training. I have always had a special interest in managing runners and nearly 2.5 years ago I made the jump to almost exclusively work with runners. Over my career I have taken 6 weekend courses related to runners for PTs, attended 2 conferences on running, read over a dozen books on training/coaching, and over 300 research articles related to running rehab, training, tendinopathy, and bone stress injuries.

Growing up, I played a multitude of sports (soccer, basketball, baseball, football). Conditioning was always my favorite part of practice, maybe because it was the part I seemed to excel at. Perhaps, this was a sign that the endurance world was more of my calling. Who knows? It wasn’t until high school that I found and fell in love with distance running after joining the cross country team my sophmore year. I continued my running career by walking-on to a small, private D2 cross country and track team in St. Louis where I also went to PT school.

(Un)Fortunately, I had quite a bit of time away from running throughout high school and college due to injuries and burnout. I didn’t know it then, but it would be the catalyst that would drive me to specialize in managing runners. These experiences provided me some fond memories and the best friendships, but I also know first hand the heartache, frustration, and even depression it can also create when things aren’t going well. I wish to help all the runners I work with be able to obtain their own epic stories and amazing life experiences running can provide while minimizing the negative ones to the best of my ability.

Chase Carson

Doctor of Physical Therapy with Run Mental

As a passionate athletic trainer and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), I am excited to utilize my training to specialize in endurance athletes. With a focus on delivering high-quality treatment, I am dedicated to helping runners, triathletes, and active individuals achieve their full potential.

My professional journey is complemented by my personal experience as an athlete. I have completed three marathons and an Ironman triathlon, and I was a competitive swimmer during my college years at SUNY Brockport. Throughout my time as an athlete, I dealt with several injuries that limited my ability to compete at a high level. I understand the frustrations and mental and physical strain resulting from sitting out of an activity you love. My goal is to help you return to your highest level of function as an athlete as quickly and safely as possible.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking—having completed two 14ers so far—fishing, and spending quality time with my fiancée, Hope, and our Corgi, Benji. I look forward to working with you and utilizing my background and skills to help you reach your athletic goals and perform at your best.
